We are really excited to share our first T.G.I.F. posting with you! Each week we will take you inside the world of a beauty biz boss lady via some down and dirty Q&A.

 This week we are sitting down with Paloma Romo, Global Makeup Artist and newly acquired Æsthetica Brand Ambassador!

Here’s what we learned about this FAB female - enjoy!!

How long have you been in the beauty business? Just over 14 years!

Where are you from, and where do you currently reside? I was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico and I currently reside in San Diego, California.

When did you first fall in love with makeup? My obsession started at a very young age,  even as a little girl I loved makeup. I can remember bringing my “makeup kit” to Jr High School and getting in trouble for giving makeovers to my friends in the girls bathroom!

What is a day in your life like? Pretty normal, in addition to being a makeup artist, I am a mother and a wife. My day starts by getting my kids to school early in the morning, walking my little yorkie, Coco, and then I can work! Whether it be replying to emails, creating looks for clients, bridal makeup testing, testing new products, or prepping for one of my private makeup classes, I never seem to have enough hours in the day. Before I know it, my kids and husband are back and I get to spend time with my family - that is the best part of my day!

What is your daily beauty regime?  There are three things I am ritualistic about: washing my face, applying sunscreen, and NEVER going to bed with my makeup on; even if i don't feel like washing my face with soap, I’ll use a makeup remover wipe.

What are your essential beauty products? Oh BOY! There are a FEW! I always have with me: my MAC Pro Long Wear concealer, Æsthetica Powder Contour Palette and Æsthetica Beauty Sponge,  TooFaced Better Than Sex mascara, Chanel “In Love” blush,  Bobbi Brown Black Gel liner, and of course an entire cosmetic bag of lip liners, glosses, and lipsticks!

How did you hear about Æsthetica Cosmetics? On Instagram, where else?! This is such a great platform for artists to connect with popular products and I was really impressed with the community, content, and conversations cultivated on the Æsthetica instagram page. There is so little out there dedicated to educating the everyday user.

How often do you contour? I never do my makeup without contouring - never, even with a more natural look. With my Æsthetica Powder Palette, it only takes me about 2 minutes, ans makes me feel 10x better about my overall look!                                                                             

What is your advice to those that are new to contouring? The best advice I can provide is to start contouring with powder first! It is easy to get discouraged if you start with both cream and powder. By starting with one, you can develop your blending techniques and better refine how you most prefer your face to be contoured. Practice will give you more confidence with contouring and simply make it easier - just keep blending!

What has been the most memorable moment of your career, thus far? OMG! There are a couple, but I think being featured in On Makeup Magazine was just Amazing! Not only because I got to see my work in print, but also because I was included alongside a makeup artist that I have always followed and admired! It was an inspiring experience.                                                                                          

Where can you be found if you’re not working? At home!  I am always on the go,  so if  and when I can, I relish the time to relax with my family.

What beauty secret can you share with the readers? Two things that always help, no matter the skin type or look you’re after: exfoliate twice a week with a mild scrub, and whatever you do...never forget to blend your makeup!!! Blend, blend, BLEND!

What fashion designer or house best represents your personal style? Michael Costello - HANDS DOWN!

Who is your fashion influence or icon? Carine Roitfeld                                                                    

Do you have a favorite beauty and/or spa treatment? Yes! The Vampire Facial.                                                                                          

If you could work on any celebrity face, whose would it be and why? My all time crush and number one beauty inspiration - Jennifer Lopez! Not only is she stunning, and has managed to remain on trend for years, but she’s a great icon for women in and out of show business; she’s worked so hard and continues to reach new levels of success.
