T.G.I.F. with Lusine Galadjian
How long have you been in the beauty business? I have been a celebrity makeup artist for over 15 years! Where are you from, and where do you currently reside? I was born in Armenia, and moved to California at the age of 6. I have lived here since and I love it!
When did you first fall in love with makeup? I’ve always loved makeup, but it wasn’t until I completed my degree and took my first job that I realized my calling to be a makeup artist. I share this because I truly believe that it is never too late to follow your passions, professionally or personally!
What is a day in your life like? I’m typically working on a shoot during the day, or at Lilit's Makeup Studio where I see my clients and shoot most of my youtube and snapchat content - I love my social media family!!
What is your daily beauty regime? I keep it pretty simple, I can get out the door with a good BB cream, mascara, blush, and a bit of gloss. What are your essential beauty products? At the moment, I absolutely love using my Nars tinted moisturizer. It's light enough to wear every day and has an SPF 20 which is important from protecting my skin from the sun. I also love my Clinique high impact mascara...no need for lashes! And last but not least, the Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy from Fresh, this has amazing vitamins and anti-aging properties for the lips. All great products for the quickly approaching summer months! What inspires you to do what you do? Honestly, the trust of my clients and the celebrities that I work with is such a powerful fuel for my creativity. and the complete freedom to create and enhance is what I thrive on. My clients are my inspiration, and I am so grateful everyday to share my gift and do something that I love!
If you could advise our readers of any one thing, what would it be? I’d advise them to love everything about themselves. Makeup is great, and it’s always fun to enhance your look, but be confident in knowing that what is under that glam is gorgeous too!
How did you hear about Aesthetica Cosmetics? I was introduced to Aesthetica Cosmetics when they paired up with Michael Costello for a charity fashion show last winter - it was an amazing event, and I’ve been an Aesthetica fan since! How often do you contour? Everyday! There should really be some level of contouring involved in your beauty routine; even if it is just a swipe or two of dark or bronzing powder to enhance your cheeks - it is a must! And why not? It is the one natural makeup technique that can work on every face - it just gives the face more color and dimension. What is your advice to those that are new to contouring? Less is more! Use a very light hand and build as you go, and then blend, blend, blend!! Practice when you have nowhere to be - the freedom to explore the colors and the depth of your contour will help you figure out what you like best and it will help save time when you are headed out for a night on the town or an important event.
What has been the most memorable moment of your career, thus far? It is hard to pick just one… so I’ll share two! Being able to work with one of my favorite performers, Mariah Carey is at the top of that list! She was an absolute pleasure to work with. The other would have to be having been nominated for an Emmy!! I even walked the red carpet with one of my favorite clients (who's become like family to me), Victoria Justice, which was a special expereince since I’m usually behind the scenes!
What are you looking forward to most for the coming year? I am really excited to have recently changed agencies and to be working with Cloutier! I'd been wanting to work with them for so long and I'm very excited about what's ahead, check out my portfolio: http://cloutierremix.com/lusine/ What beauty secret can you share with the readers? Make your lashes look fuller just by filling in the upper lash line with powder. It is easiest if you apply the powder with a thin angled brush, and it works for all eye shapes and sizes. You'll be amazed at how much your eyes will pop with this one simple technique.
Where can you be found if you’re not working? With my amazing children! I am a very proud mother of three!
Who is your fashion influence or icon? My favorite fashion icon of all time is Grace Kelly, the princess of Monaco. She was so elegant, talented, and classy. Grace was the epitome of beauty during her time, and is still influencial in current campaigns and beauty trends. She was known for introducing the "fresh faced look" which celebrated bright skin and natural beauty with little makeup. The no-makeup-makeup look has always resonated with me, and has become a staple of my work.
What was the best concert or live performance you’ve ever attended and why? My all time favorite concert that I've ever attended has to be the Celine Dion concert. She's another one of my favorites, so extremely talented and just has a heart of gold. She's someone I hope to work with one day! |
